While walking down the main street in Costa de Caparica, I noticed a jewellery shop that appeared to be protected by two serious guard dogs.

They were clearly in charge of security, customer relations, and probably most financial decisions.I entered with their permission and found a lovely couple inside, apparently assisting the dogs with the daily running of the shop.

They were incredibly warm and open, and kindly allowed me to photograph.

It’s moments like these that I love most about photography. You stumble into ordinary places and suddenly meet wonderful people, interesting lives, and, in this case, two dogs who seemed to be running this business with absolute authority.
